Terry brings special products liability and trial expertise to KFP, as well as a broad background in complex commercial litigation that includes insurance, real estate, contracts and intellectual property litigation. Terry is an experienced trial lawyer and has obtained defense jury verdicts in some of the most plaintiff friendly jurisdiction in the country.
Legal Expertise
Terry joined KFP in 2006 after working for 15 years at a major Chicago law firm. Terry has been involved in most areas of complex commercial litigation. He most recently served as National Counsel for a manufacturer of FDA regulated latex gloves in over 500 product liability lawsuits pending in various courts across the United States. As part of his product liability practice, Terry also counsels clients on warning and design strategies to avoid litigation. Terry also advises clients on coverage issues relating to pharmaceutical and mass tort claims and brings a unique perspective to understanding the underlying claims because of his extensive product liability defense expertise.
Terry’s real estate litigation experience includes construction, mechanics’ liens, landlord tenant and eminent domain proceedings. Terry’s intellectual property experience includes trade secret, patent infringement and trade mark infringement litigation. Terry has also represented healthcare providers, including hospitals and hospital systems. Terry is admitted to practice law in all state courts in Illinois, The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where he is also a member of the Trial Bar and The United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Seventh Circuits.
Education and Achievements
Terry received his Juris Doctor, cum laude for Loyola University of Chicago in 1991, where he was a member of the Law Review and the Moot Court Team. Terry graduated from the University of Illinois in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance, cum laude.
